what do I do if my quilt fabric has stretched while I am sewing it. I'm making a braided quilt so it's on bias?
Try steaming it back into shape.
You may have to remove really badly stretched fabrics.
Fabric cut on the bias needs a very light hand when piecing, sewing and pressing (no ironing), just an up and down motion that does not drag the fabric.
This may be a pattern that is best paper pieced.
A caution on using starch - use only if the quilt is going to be washed as it is a grain and attracts insects.
If the quilt is going to be a wall hanging that seldom, if ever will be washed - use spray sizing instead of starch.
