Which is better - Anchor or Dmc Embroidery Floss?
I am planning to do a Cross Stitch pattern and I need to buy thread for it. The anchor floss is much less expensive at my local store but I do not know if the quality is as good. Have you used both kinds? How did you find them? How do they compare for colorfastness? Please tell me about your experiences with these brands of embroidery floss. Thanks!
Personally, I design with DMC because it is easier to find. There aren't as many colors as with ANCHOR and both are high quality. ANCHOR floss seems a bit shinier, but after it is worked, it is hard to tell the difference. Although there are conversion charts, sometimes there are no matches for certain colors. Both flosse brands are boilfast--the colors won't bleed even in boiling water. I really think the choice is up to you...both are great! I do think the advantage is that DMC is almost always the color listed for a project. If you use ANCHOR, you will probably have to do a lot of your own converting.
